Apologies if you visited this site last week, expecting to find the weekly post. I was inundated with translation projects – at one point, I had four on the go at once and was simply unable to find the time to write and publish a post. Having now completed these projects, I am enjoying a couple of days off translating and am catching up on other things.
I have noticed a big increase in Prolific Academic surveys this week, which is definitely helping to line the coffers in time for the upcoming festive season. Before they upgraded the website, I was using an add on to alert me when a new survey was available – which was not always reliable. Since the upgrade, I am finding that it is just a matter of keeping a tab open whenever I am available, or in the mood to complete a survey. So far, so good – in the last two days I have earned £24.62 on the site!
Other than that, I have been experimenting with making my own oat milk at home. This is not about money saving, but rather, because I have had a bad bout of acne recently and am beginning to wonder if dairy consumption is what is causing it. After seeing a tweet from a well know smoothie and fruit juice making company claiming that they now produce dairy free milks, I started researching this online and stumbled on some recipes for homemade oat milk.
It is quite easy to make – just involves soaking and rinsing oats, adding salt and blending. The taste is fine – slightly nutty but not a million miles away from cow’s milk. However when I add it to hot drinks it separates instantly which looks very off putting, which is not great for my needs as that is mainly what I use milk for! Perhaps I need a better recipe, who knows.
