What is Tesco Home Panels?
It is a product testing panel for loyal Tesco customers. Members get to try out free Tesco branded products in exchange for honest feedback.
What type of products are available to test?
Pretty much anything that Tesco sells. I have tested a wide range of products over the years, including jeans, nightwear, shoes and even a smart meter.
What does product testing for Tesco involve?
You will need to try the product out thoroughly, ideally a few times. If it is an item of clothing, it will need to be worn and washed during the test. After a short period of time, the Company will send out a questionnaire which only takes a few minutes to complete. It helps if you fill out as much detail as possible as Tesco needs this information to gain insight into consumer expectations and to further improve the products.
A couple of years ago Tesco emailed all the panelists requesting far more detailed comments with as many descriptive words as possible. The email also stated that those who do not answer and/or persist with short answers such as ‘good’ or ‘as expected’ would be removed from the panel!
How will I know when products are available to test?
Tesco sends out an email when there is a new product to test. You need to respond quickly as panelists are accepted onto trials on a first come, first served basis. If it is a clothing or footwear trial, you will need to stipulate your size.
Is it worth it?
Absolutely! These product tests are usually very quick and easy to complete and the products are usually of decent quality. You can also save money by taking part in these tests as most of the household products are items that the majority of us would purchase anyway: kitchen towels, for example, or toothpaste. The majority of the items of clothing sent out are suitable for everyday or office wear.
From time to time, Tesco emails panelists a short survey. You get one point for completing these and once you reach a total of 50 points, there will be a £10 Bonus Bond voucher on its way to you in the post.
